Competition Details

Designed for university innovators who can turn connected technology into meaningful real-world solutions.

Team Size

Teams must consist of 2 to 4 members. Every member should actively contribute to the proposed IoT solution.

Eligibility

Open to undergraduate students currently enrolled in state or non-state universities in Sri Lanka. Valid proof of university enrolment is required.

IoT Focus

Projects should demonstrate a clear IoT application using connected devices, working hardware, a functional simulation, or a prototype.

Innovation Flow

Take your idea from real-world problem discovery to connected prototype and final presentation.

Ideate

Identify a meaningful real-world problem and define an innovative IoT concept.

Connect

Connect sensors, controllers, services and communication technologies.

Prototype

Transform the proposed concept into a working demo or functional simulation.

Present

Showcase the technical value, impact and future potential of the solution.

Competition Rounds

Innov IOT moves from online concept validation to final prototype demonstration.

Proposal Submission & Presentation

Teams submit their project concept, including the problem, proposed IoT solution, system overview and expected outcomes. Round 1 is conducted online.

Prototype Development

Shortlisted teams develop their solutions and present working prototypes in an on-site session, followed by a Q&A with the judging panel.

Rules & Regulations

All participants must follow the originality, contribution and evaluation requirements.

  • Each team must submit an original project idea. Plagiarism or reuse of existing projects can lead to disqualification.
  • The project must have a clear IoT application with working hardware and/or a functioning simulation.
  • All team members must actively contribute and be available during scheduled evaluation sessions.
  • Shortlisted teams must present a working prototype or demo in the final round.
  • Each participant must provide valid proof of university enrolment.
  • Each university may send multiple teams, but a participant can only belong to one team.
